During Rick’s thirty years practicing law, he has seen many changes in the franchise industry. He began his legal career with a prominent franchise practice in Washington, DC, where he counseled franchisors on all legal aspects of franchising from drafting and registering franchise disclosure documents to terminating franchise agreements. Seeking to expand the scope of his practice, he moved to a counsel position with a small firm in suburban Maryland, allowing him to represent both franchisors and franchisees. When one of his clients offered him the opportunity to serve as Assistant General Counsel, he began his in-house career.
Currently serving as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Precision Auto Care, Inc. in Northern Virginia, Rick has a record of counseling publicly-traded companies, developing and leading efficient legal teams, and reducing total legal spend. He enjoys solving problems and providing counsel on a wide range of legal matters and strategic business decisions impacting the future of the company. Rick builds strong partnerships with internal clients to effect robust compliance while achieving operational objectives. At Precision Auto Care, Inc., Rick works closely with the Chief Executive Officer/President of the company and the Chief Financial Officer. He also advises the Board of Directors on corporate governance matters.
